Privacy Policy

Budgettify ("we", "us") is a trip-budgeting tool. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and the choices you have over it.

Your trip data

The budget you build in Budgettify (sections, incomes, expenses, participants, and settings) is stored either as a local file on your own device, saved through your browser's file picker, or — only if you choose to log in and use server sync — as a document on our sync server so it's available across your devices. If you never log in, your trip data never leaves your device except when you explicitly export or share a file yourself.

Account data

If you create an account to use server sync, we store the account details needed to authenticate you (such as your email) and the trip budgets you save to your account. This data is used solely to provide the app's sync feature and is not sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

AI chat feature

If you use the optional AI chat assistant, the trip data relevant to your question is sent to the AI provider to generate a response. If you supply your own API key, that key is used only to make those requests on your behalf and is not used for any other purpose.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a cookie consent tool to ask for your permission before setting anything beyond strictly necessary cookies. Depending on your choices in the cookie preferences panel, we may use:

• Necessary — required for the app to function (e.g. remembering your login session and theme).
• Preferences — remembers settings like your recently opened files.
• Analytics — helps us understand how the app is used, in aggregate.
• Marketing — used to serve and measure the ads that support the free version of the app.

You can change your choices at any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the app's sidebar or footer.

Advertising

The free version of Budgettify may display ads served through Google AdSense. Ads are only shown if you've consented to marketing cookies and are not logged in. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites; see Google's advertising policy for details.

Your choices

• Use the app entirely offline with local file storage — no account or server needed.
• Export or delete your local file at any time using your device's normal file tools.
• Delete a saved server budget, or your account, from within the app.
• Withdraw cookie consent at any time from the cookie preferences panel.
